A letter to my Allergies

by Nuriel Rozenberg

You sneak up on me in class and
arrive at the most inconvenient times
Puffy eyes,
runny noses,
random bursts of coughing
I deal with a lot of people
mistaking me for being sick
The tears in my eyes that form
at the start of the day
and continue through the evening
The constant sneezing
the lack of tissue boxes the school has--
it leaves me to scavenge through classrooms.
I would prefer to wake up
breath,
energized,
ready for the day
like people in commercials.
I did not sign up for the congestion,
itchy eyes,
throat irritation
I didn't choose the allergy life
The allergy life
chose me

The Spring Musical- The Addams Family by Stephanie Downes

The SHS Spring Musical this year, as many know, is The Addams Family. It is not the classic story, however, that is told in the TV show. The same characters with the same characteristics and classic elements are of course included in the show, but the overall plot is different. The entire cast has put so much time into putting this show together. We stayed after school for hours almost everyday of the week since the beginning of January. We had to learn all of the songs, dances, and lines of the show. The tech crew and backstage crew worked tirelessly to build the set. The entire cast even stayed all day on weekends to put this show together and make it run smoothly. Although the show was a lot of hard work, it will all be worth it in the end. Our cast has bonded and I personally have made so many friends. I love spending time with my new family who make the hours and hours of practice not only bearable, but very fun. All of our work will pay off when friends and family come to see the show and congratulate us on creating an enjoyable production. Please come see The Addams Family on March 2nd ,3rd and 4th at 7 pm! I promise you'll have a great time!

Spring Sports

Spring Sports:
By Sophie Venus
March 3 marks the day spring sports starts for me and many others. I love playing lacrosse but the coming of sports means way more stress for school. From now on after school, I'll have practice for two hours and then I'll go home to do homework. I already can't do my homework in one night and I usually get to bed around 12 am. With sports, that time will extend to maybe 1 or 2 am. This means when I go to school the next morning I will hardly be awake. This also means I have no down time to give my mind a break. How do you balance good grades and playing a sport? This is a question I don't think anyone can answer.

Spring

Spring by Kasey Senatore

Your leaves are withered up, my friend.
Your stalk is weak and flimsy.
Your fruit is shriveled up, my friend.
It's clinging to you securely.
The winter has hit you hard,
But the snow around you has just started
To melt away and disappear.
Now it is he time of year,
for growth and repair.
Your fruit will fall and decompose
And your body will disappear,
But you will grow again.
