Poem: The Silent Scream | by Samantha Patino

The Silent Scream
The little boy pulled the covers over his head
As he saw the monsters
He gave out a little shout

But even though he was little he was not a baby
And he was not scared anymore
He locked his closet tight at night
To stop them from crawling out
He blocked the edges of his bed
So nothing would come creeping out

Finally he was peaceful
Falling back asleep
Little did he know

The monsters came crawling, creeping back
And as they reached out their long talons
Pulling the boy away from his world
No one heard him

Crying and screaming for help
